The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abbott drives through with a takedown into Ambros's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Abbott is looking to stand up but Ambros won't let him.
Abbott is fighting to break Ambros's control of his arms but Ambros is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Ambros really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abbott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ivan Abbott.
Ambros has his takedown stuffed

and Abbott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ambros changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Abbott fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ambros goes for a double leg but Abbott avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Abbott continues to drive forward.

Ambros ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ambros no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Abbott has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ambros is proving hard to escape from.

Ambros pushes Abbott away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Abbott gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Ambros manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
