The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer tries to close the distance and clinch but Mahingi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mahingi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Meyer. Meyer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Meyer is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mahingi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Meyer doesn't seem bothered though.
Mahingi works Meyer's body with a nice hook.
Meyer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mahingi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Meyer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Meyer there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mahingi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mahingi wants it to stay on the feet.

and Mahingi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Meyer shoots in looking for a takedown. Mahingi tries to sprawl out of it but Meyer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mahingi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mahingi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mahingi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Meyer.

Meyer is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mahingi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Meyer has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Mahingi's corner calls for a 1-2. Mahingi obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Mahingi lands a nice shot to the body.
Meyer shoots in for a takedown but Mahingi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mahingi looks to land a body kick but Meyer moved away.
Mahingi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Mahingi lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mahingi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Meyer's head.
Mahingi has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Mahingi looks to land a combination. Meyer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Meyer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mahingi sprawls well initially but Meyer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Meyer moves nicely into side control.

Meyer is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mahingi looks calm but he's in trouble here. Meyer gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mahingi is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Meyer lets go of the hold and Mahingi can pop his arm back in it's socket.
