The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shibata has taken the fight to the clinch.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shibata throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Matsuhita escapes and throws Shibata's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shibata is looking for a choke. Matsuhita gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Matsuhita manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Shibata escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsuhita gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Matsuhita is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Shibata working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matsuhita doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matsuhita manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Matsuhita is looking to take a break and control but Shibata is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Shibata takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Matsuhita dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Left hook, right uppercut from Shibata.
Shibata pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shibata swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Matsuhita counters with a straight right hand.
Matsuhita lands a nice shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shibata looks for a takedown but Matsuhita sprawls well.

Matsuhita lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Shibata is looking to close the distance but Matsuhita sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Shibata crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Shibata is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
