Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karl Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Valor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bad Religion - Dept. of False Hope. Prince Valor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Thomas!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Prince Valor!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valor swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Thomas misses with a double jab

and Valor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thomas won't be happy with that.
Thomas gets back to half guard.
Thomas is trying to get back to full guard.
Thomas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Valor missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Valor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Valor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thomas keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Prince Valor was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Thomas misses with a kick to the body.
Valor on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Thomas throws a series of punches but Valor avoids them all with ease.
Valor scores with a jab. Thomas acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Thomas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Valor tries to bum rush Thomas with a series of wild strikes but Thomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Thomas throws a sloppy head kick

and Valor counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thomas won't allow Valor to pass to mount.

Valor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thomas sees it coming and defends easily.

Thomas pushes Valor off looking to stand but Valor dives back in and keeps control.

Valor is looking for a kimura here.
Valor is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Valor perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Valor tries to pass to full mount but Thomas defends it.
Valor is taking a breather. Thomas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Valor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thomas wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thomas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Valor from controlling successfully.
Valor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thomas wants to stand and escape but Valor is having none of it.
Valor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thomas is keeping the position for now.
Valor postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Prince Valor dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Thomas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Valor sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Valor misses with a series of wild punches.
Thomas looks to land a combination. Valor sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Valor throws a body kick, spinning off balance
enabling Thomas to counter with a crisp jab.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Valor crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Thomas - the referee stops the clock and Valor gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Thomas. Valor manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Thomas dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Valor takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thomas thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Valor if he has to take too many more of those.
Karl Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomas throws out a powerful jab.
Valor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Thomas.
Thomas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Karl Thomas is winning the standup battle so far.

Valor walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Valor moves out of range of the strikes.
Karl Thomas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Thomas misses with a low kick.
Valor goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nice cross by Thomas.
Valor lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thomas lands a left and a right that send Valor crashing to the mat, dazed. Thomas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Valor is rocked!
Thomas fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Valor square on the jaw! Damn, Valor is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Karl Thomas!
Karl Thomas retains his middleweight title!
An out of breath Karl Thomas thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
