Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicoco Smilov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James has chosen Kanye West as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Smilov is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smilov's waist but Smilov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as James takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Smilov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice straight punches there by Smilov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Smilov.
James throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Smilov.

James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there.
Smilov pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.

James is keen to just control but Smilov is a slippery customer.
James perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Smilov has hold of James's hands but James slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James wants to pass the guard but Smilov is defending well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Smilov scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but James manages to mount him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smilov after a bit of a struggle.
James jumps guard but Smilov stands there with James around his waist. James gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

James swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Smilov.

James looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
James tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smilov defends well and James ends up having to push Smilov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Smilov feints a jab promting James to slip. Smilov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. James slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Smilov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps James's head backwards.

James shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smilov wants to get back to his feet.

James scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
James winds up and cracks Smilov with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Smilov is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.
James with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smilov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nicoco Smilov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. James lands a nice short elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smilov tries to kick James off but James keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jon James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Smilov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon James was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Smilov leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jon James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Jon James was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
