Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Hooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomas Klein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zachary Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tomas Klein!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Hooper does no damage.
Hooper misses with a double jab.
Klein shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hooper but Hooper pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Hooper counters with a single leg into guard. Klein didn't expect that.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Klein has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hooper is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Klein.

Hooper thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Klein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hooper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hooper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Klein tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hooper presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Klein wants to control but Hooper is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hooper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Klein defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hooper.

Hooper is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Klein can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Klein has given up his back here. Will Hooper look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Klein is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Klein counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hooper's guard now.
Hooper can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Klein controls the pace.
Klein tries to free his leg and advance position but Hooper is retaining full guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Zachary Hooper just wasn't active enough.

Hooper decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hooper seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Klein has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hooper is working away from the top position though.

Hooper is working for a submission of some sort.
Klein is looking for a sweep. Hooper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Klein scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hooper manages to mount him!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hooper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Klein tries to hold on but Hooper postures up.
Klein is working to get back to half guard.

Hooper trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The referee warns Klein that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Klein keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hooper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hooper goes for an armbar but Klein turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Klein.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Klein won't allow Hooper to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Hooper clinches up against the cage.

Hooper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hooper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Klein working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hooper's head.

Klein throws a sloppy strike and Hooper has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Klein is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Hooper!
