Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Kuto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miguel Kuto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Kuto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuto lands a head kick. Pettis smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Pettis misses with the combination.

Danga de danga de dang - Pettis scores with a four punch combination!
Kuto scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Kuto looking to score a takedown here. Pettis is defending well but Kuto drives through and ends up in Pettis's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kuto content to stall in guard here.
Kuto passes Pettis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kuto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Pettis pushes Kuto off looking to stand but Kuto dives back in and keeps control.
Kuto is taking a breather. Pettis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Miguel Kuto has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pettis misses with a head kick.
Pettis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kuto defends it nicely.

Kuto moves into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kuto drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kuto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pettis is trying to break the clinch but Kuto has him pressed against the cage.
Kuto tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pettis smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Kuto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kuto throws a head kick but Pettis moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kuto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pettis pinned against the cage. Pettis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kuto. That's going to slow Pettis down.

Kuto has closed the distance and engaged Pettis in a clinch.
Pettis is looking to control Kuto's arms but Kuto gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pettis has his back to the cage.

Kuto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kuto gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kuto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pettis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kuto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pettis moves in looking to clinch but Kuto pushes him off.

Kuto gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Knees to the body from Kuto.

Kuto decides to pull guard.
Pettis tries to stand but Kuto is controlling from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kuto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kuto has Pettis pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Kuto dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kuto circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kuto fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pettis to the ground. Kuto is now in Pettis's guard.
Kuto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pettis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kuto is aware though and is defending well.
Kuto is looking to stand up but Pettis won't let him.
Kuto is stalling in the full guard.
Kuto wants to stand but Pettis is controlling his posture from full guard.

Pettis being controlled here, momentarily.
Kuto is in close to Pettis's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pettis wants to stand and escape but Kuto is having none of it.
Pettis is breathing heavily.
Kuto is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pettis wants to get back to his feet but Kuto is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kuto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pettis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kuto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pettis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pettis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kuto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Pettis is tightening it up a little... Kuto has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kuto reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kuto taps out! Nice BJJ there by Pettis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jay Pettis!
