Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrey Konovalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuel Paquiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konovalov comes to the cage accompanied by CJClip - No reason to live but we do it. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrey Konovalov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Manuel Paquiao!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Konovalov clinches up with Paquiao and pushes him back against the cage.

Paquiao's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Konovalov tries for a takedown but Paquiao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Konovalov takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Paquiao scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Konovalov darts in trying to clinch
and Paquiao counters with a stiff right hand.
Paquiao throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Konovalov pushes Paquiao up against the cage in a clinch.
Paquiao has had enough of the clinch but Konovalov keeps him there for the moment.
Paquiao is looking to break free of the clinch but Konovalov has double underhooks.
Konovalov fails to pull guard.
Konovalov wants to take the fight to the mat but Paquiao manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Paquiao has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrey Konovalov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Konovalov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Paquiao pulls his leg out and moves away.
Paquiao swats away the attempt to clinch by Konovalov.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Konovalov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Paquiao misses the jab.
Paquiao scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Paquiao lands a nice shot to the body.
Paquiao swings for the body but Konovalov moves out of range.
Paquiao looks to land a right hand but Konovalov moved out of range.
Konovalov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Konovalov misses with a two punch combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A combination from Paquiao does no damage.
Konovalov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Paquiao counters with a left to the body.
Paquiao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paquiao wants it to stay on the feet.
Paquiao misses with a looping left.
Konovalov walks into a straight right hand from Paquiao.
Konovalov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Paquiao connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Konovalov scrambles back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Konovalov needs to keep his hands up - Paquiao had a free shot at his head there.
Konovalov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Paquiao manages to avoid it.
Paquiao circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Paquiao misses the target.

Konovalov looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Paquiao looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Konovalov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Paquiao manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Konovalov has Paquiao in his guard.
Paquiao trying to stand up but can't free himself from Konovalov's guard.

Konovalov working for a triangle but Paquiao defends it easily.
Konovalov thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paquiao wanted to stand there but Konovalov had control of the position.
Paquiao not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Paquiao got a little sloppy there for a moment and Konovalov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paquiao has managed to get both his arms back between Konovalov's legs - danger averted.

Paquiao avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Konovalov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paquiao can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Konovalov is looking for a triangle but Paquiao pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Manuel Paquiao will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Konovalov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Paquiao counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Konovalov on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Paquiao lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Paquiao moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


Konovalov is rocked!
Konovalov shoots in for a double leg but Paquiao sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Konovalov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Konovalov takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Konovalov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Konovalov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Konovalov shoots in looking for a takedown. Paquiao tries to sprawl out of it but Konovalov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paquiao manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Konovalov looks up at the clock. Bad move! Paquiao lands a right hand from hell, dropping Konovalov. Paquiao pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Manuel Paquiao!
A relieved looking Manuel Paquiao thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
