PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jet Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dick Long has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dick Long seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dick Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jet Chan!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Chan prevents Long from improving his position.
Chan slows the pace down in half guard.

Long has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chan is working away from the top position though.
Long is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Chan seems to be working for a kimura but Long defends the submission attempt.

Long is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chan pulls his head out easily.
Long works his way to full guard. Good work.
Chan is pushing down on Long's leg trying to pass to half guard. Long is fighting to maintain full guard but Chan has managed to sneak the leg through.

Chan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Chan passes the guard and advances to mount!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Long is surviving well by controlling Chan's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Long is desperately trying to improve his position but Chan has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Long is breathing heavily.
Chan working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Chan lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Long hang on?
Chan cracks Long with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Long is desperately trying to improve his position but Chan has a good base and remains in mount.
Chan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Long is looking to get to half guard.
Chan looking to control and managing it successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Let's hope that Chan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jet Chan wasn't active enough on the ground.
Long takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Chan dominated that round.
That's time! Long's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Chan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Long, pushing him back against the cage.

Chan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chan throws a head kick that misses.
A jab lands there for Chan.

Chan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Long to the mat! Long manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chan pushes down on Long's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Long is trying to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chan is keen to just control but Long is a slippery customer.
Long missing with punches from the bottom.
Chan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Long throws a combination that misses
and Chan counters with a head kick. That will keep Long thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Chan makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Long is looking to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Long. No joy for Chan on that attempt.
Chan tries for a takedown but Long sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Chan or perhaps it was just good defense by Long which made him look bad.
Dick Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jet Chan.

Long is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Chan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Chan's back!
Chan trying to control the action but Long just sinks the hooks in.
Long keeps control of the position as Chan tries to break free.
Chan covering up well and avoiding damage.
Chan wants to control his opponent's hands but Long gets his hands free.
Long misses with a punch to the head.

Chan looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Will Long go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Chan is taking damage to the body and head.
Long is striking well from the back but Chan escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Long stalling away here and it's allowed Chan to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chan pulls Long in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Chan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Chan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Long to see if he's OK.

Chan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on Long's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Chan in side control lands a decent elbow.
Long tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Long seems a little lost for a moment, as Chan dominates the positioning.

Chan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Chan closes the distance and clinches up with Long, looking for a takedown. Chan pushes Long against the cage but Long circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Chan moves into the clinch.
Long looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Long prevents the takedown attempt.
Dick Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jet Chan.
Long tries to circle away but Chan has him pinned against the cage.

Chan drags the fight down to the ground.
Long is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Long in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Long wants to control from the top but Chan keeps moving.
Dick Long has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jet Chan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Chan has control of Long's left arm, preventing Long from doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jet Chan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Chan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
