PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henrik Voigl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Von Schwaben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voigl changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Von Schwaben tries to avoid it but Voigl manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Von Schwaben to the ground. Von Schwaben escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A slow jab from Voigl misses its intended target.

Voigl gets tackled into the cage by Von Schwaben. Von Schwaben maintains the clinch.
Von Schwaben can't get the takedown.
Voigl using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Von Schwaben has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Von Schwaben looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Von Schwaben breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Voigl tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Von Schwaben paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Voigl gets caught napping as Von Schwaben dives in and scores a takedown. Voigl manages to retain guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Von Schwaben accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Von Schwaben controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Voigl knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Von Schwaben on the ground.

Von Schwaben is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Voigl wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Von Schwaben manages to pass to side control.

Von Schwaben takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Von Schwaben sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Voigl defending well though.

Von Schwaben is looking for a kimura but Voigl is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Von Schwaben to get the leverage.
Von Schwaben slows the pace down in half guard.
Von Schwaben throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Von Schwaben escapes and gets back to his feet.
Von Schwaben misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Von Schwaben throws a head kick that Voigl semi-blocks.

Voigl closes the distance and clinches.
Von Schwaben goes for a takedown in the clinch but Voigl prevents it.
Henrik Voigl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Von Schwaben.

Von Schwaben escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Voigl clinches up with Von Schwaben and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Von Schwaben jumps guard but Voigl stands there with Von Schwaben around his waist. Von Schwaben gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Von Schwaben tries to pull guard but Voigl won't allow it.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Von Schwaben takes an elbow to the temple.

It looks like Jonathan Von Schwaben has been cut.

Von Schwaben jumps into guard, dragging Voigl to the mat.

Voigl is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Von Schwaben has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Voigl is looking to defend but Von Schwaben has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Voigl! Von Schwaben pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Voigl taps out and this one is all over!

After winning the bout, Jonathan Von Schwaben thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
