Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Roth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronuel John Natividad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Natividad has chosen Lights Out as his entrance music. Shawn Roth has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shawn Roth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronuel John Natividad!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Natividad gets caught napping as Roth dives in and scores a takedown. Natividad manages to retain guard.

Roth stands up from Natividad's guard - Roth perhaps looking for a knockout.
Roth stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Natividad.

Roth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roth lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shawn Roth just wasn't active enough.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Roth.

Roth has taken the fight to the clinch.
Roth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Roth is trying to break free.

Roth breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Natividad misses with a takedown attempt - Roth sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Natividad tries to move into range but Roth moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Natividad rushes Roth and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Roth has had enough of the clinch but Natividad keeps him there for the moment.
Natividad has Roth pressed against the cage, preventing Roth from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Roth breaks from the clinch.
Roth throws a hook to the side of Natividad's head but Natividad sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Natividad moves into the clinch.

Roth's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Natividad misses the shot to the body.

Natividad clinches.
Natividad tries to pull guard but Roth forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Natividad looks winded!
Roth is trying to break the clinch but Natividad is controlling him.
Natividad should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Natividad tries for a takedown but Roth manages to get underhooks.
Shawn Roth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronuel John Natividad.
Natividad trying to control the position but instead, Roth has worked for underhooks and has pushed Natividad into the cage.

Roth escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Roth cracks Natividad with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Roth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roth lands in his opponent's guard.
Roth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Roth working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Natividad's head.

Natividad tries a head kick but it misses.
Natividad shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Natividad tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Roth swivels and escapes.
Roth lands the left hand.
Natividad changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roth tries to avoid it but Natividad manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roth to the ground. Roth escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Roth counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Roth throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Roth is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Roth tries to land a front kick but Natividad steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Roth closes the distance and pushes Natividad back into the cage.
Natividad wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Roth is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Roth pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Roth shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roth showed some decent athleticism there.
Roth looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Roth's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Roth is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roth is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Natividad has managed to free his arm - good work.

Roth is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Natividad!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roth looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Shawn Roth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Roth jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Natividad manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roth throws a hook but Natividad blocks it.
Natividad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roth avoids it really well and circles away.
The fighters circling - Roth throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Natividad throws a right and a left that both miss.

Roth shoots in and gets a takedown into Natividad's guard.

Natividad takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Roth drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Natividad dives on top into guard.

Roth escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Natividad gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Roth is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Natividad is in close to Roth's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Roth throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Natividad is standing up over Roth. Roth looks to escape but Natividad dives into side control.
Roth is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Natividad blocks the strikes from Roth.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Natividad closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
