PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Kilju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snow comes to the cage accompanied by Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight. Pablo Kilju told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Snow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pablo Kilju!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kilju gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Snow avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kilju.
Kilju looks to land a strike but Snow avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Kilju told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Snow looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kilju avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Snow has his foot on Kilju's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kilju works his way back into a safe position though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Snow is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kilju is aware though and is defending well.
Kilju trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kilju postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kilju is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Kilju is working Snow over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kilju working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Snow's head.

Snow looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kilju lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Snow working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kilju doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kilju manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Snow looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kilju scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Kilju gets to his feet. Snow looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kilju changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Snow looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Snow is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kilju connects with a decent elbow.
Snow sneaks back into half guard.
Snow tries to get to full guard but Kilju has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kilju is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kilju landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Snow is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Kilju is tapping! Great win for Snow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Eric Snow!
Eric Snow seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
