Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leigh Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mick Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leigh Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mick Jones!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
Freeman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Freeman wants it to stay on the feet.
Freeman doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Freeman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jones defends well and Freeman ends up having to push Jones into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Freeman is pushing Jones up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Jones throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Freeman blocks it with crossed arms.
Freeman managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.
Freeman tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Freeman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leigh Freeman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones tries to break the clinch but Freeman is controlling the position.
Freeman tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Freeman drops back down to his feet.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Freeman has him pressed against the cage.

The referee is keeping an eye on Jones - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Freeman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Freeman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Freeman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Freeman is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Jones stays in close to Freeman's body and controls the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mick Jones wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Freeman.
Freeman slowing the pace effectively.

Freeman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jones is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

It looks like Leigh Freeman has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones jumps guard but Freeman stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Freeman changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jones fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Freeman pinned against the cage. Freeman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Freeman dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Freeman tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Freeman walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Freeman content to stall in guard here.

Freeman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Freeman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Freeman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jones pulls Freeman in to control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Freeman avoids a kick to the body.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Freeman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Freeman throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Freeman. Freeman gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Freeman tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Freeman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Freeman.

Jones takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Freeman fails with the takedown.

Freeman looking to break Jones's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jones remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Freeman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Freeman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.

Freeman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Freeman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Leigh Freeman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mick Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leigh Freeman.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
