The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Patrick is predictable there
and Lara counters with a nice body kick.
Lara looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Patrick is fending him off so far but Lara persists. Nope, Patrick circles away and we're back to standing.
Lara misses with a wild body shot.

Patrick has managed to clinch.
Patrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lara walks away with a smile on his face. Patrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lara throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Patrick.
Patrick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lara tries to score a power double leg takedown but Patrick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lara somewhat.
Lara shoots in but no luck this time.
Patrick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Patrick has Lara up against the cage in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lara wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Patrick manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Lara goes for a takedown in the clinch but Patrick prevents it.
Patrick is trying to drag Lara to the mat but Lara just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lara throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That was a close round but I would say that Zachary Patrick will probably get the nod.

Patrick ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Patrick no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Patrick seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lara does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Lara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Patrick was well out of range. Poor timing from Lara.
Patrick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lara as he jumps to the side.

Patrick shoots for a double leg takedown but Lara sprawls well. He's pushed Patrick's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
