PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ron Chalmers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chalmers comes to the cage accompanied by Hash Pipe by Weezer. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Chalmers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chalmers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gotti gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Chalmers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Chalmers fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gotti is out of range.
Chalmers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chalmers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gotti shoots for a double leg takedown but Chalmers sprawls well. He's pushed Gotti's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gotti keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Chalmers's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gotti looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chalmers is fending him off so far but Gotti persists. Nope, Chalmers circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chalmers throws a right hand that Gotti ducks under and follows up with a left that Gotti also avoids with ease.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Gotti is trying to drag Chalmers to the mat but Chalmers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
