The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atom tries to clinch up but McDonald circles away and keeps his distance.
McDonald gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Atom to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McDonald manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McDonald is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Atom can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McDonald content just to control the position here.
McDonald wants to take his opponent's back but Atom doesn't allow it.
Atom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
