Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goncalo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Brian Staal has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Brian Staal seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Alves, right into the meat.
Staal takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A chopping leg kick lands by Alves.
Alves buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Alves lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Brian Staal has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Staal thows a body shot but no joy.

Staal on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Alves. Alves obviously looking to wear him down.

Alves's corner calls for a 1-2. Alves obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves throws a leg kick which misses Staal's front leg but catches the back leg as Staal tries to avoid it.
Alves throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Staal stumbling backwards into the cage! Staal bounces back off the cage towards Alves, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Alves lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Alves celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
