Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Lucchese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Scarpa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Lucchese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregory Scarpa!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scarpa pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gregory Scarpa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Scarpa just leaning against Lucchese, taking a breather.
Lucchese blocking some punches.
Scarpa gets through Lucchese's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Lucchese drops down looking for an ankle pick but Scarpa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Scarpa swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lucchese.
Scarpa fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Scarpa lands with a thumping leg kick.
Scarpa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lucchese.
Scarpa motions for Lucchese to come forward. Scarpa throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Scarpa scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Lucchese avoids a kick to the body.
Scarpa throws a head kick but Lucchese moves out of range.
Scarpa looks to land a right hand but Lucchese moved out of range.
Scarpa dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lucchese. That did some damage!
Scarpa throws a low kick, looking for Lucchese's leg but Lucchese calmly moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Lucchese checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Scarpa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lucchese tries to avoid it but Scarpa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lucchese to the ground. Lucchese escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Scarpa tries to land a leg kick but Lucchese saw it coming and moves away.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lucchese wants to pass the guard but Scarpa is keeping the position.
Scarpa has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Cooker. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Scarpa has his foot on Lucchese's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lucchese works his way back into a safe position though.
Lucchese tries to free his leg and advance position but Scarpa is retaining full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lucchese wants to pass the guard but Scarpa is defending well.
Scarpa is looking to control Lucchese's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scarpa avoid being mounted?

Lucchese is looking to take a break and control but Scarpa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scarpa will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Scarpa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lucchese manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Scarpa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lucchese sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scarpa somewhat.

Scarpa dives in and scores a takedown into Lucchese's guard.

Scarpa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lucchese has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Scarpa has managed to get both his arms back between Lucchese's legs - danger averted.

Scarpa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lucchese is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lucchese is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Lucchese throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Scarpa escapes and throws Lucchese's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Scarpa tests Lucchese's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Scarpa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Scarpa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lucchese as he avoids it easily.

Lucchese takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Scarpa is defended easily by Lucchese.
Scarpa wants to clinch.

Scarpa tries to clinch there but Lucchese circles away.
Scarpa loads up on a big right hand but Lucchese slips the punch.
Scarpa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lucchese sprawls well. Lucchese wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Scarpa gets slowly back to his feet.

Gregory Scarpa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lucchese has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Scarpa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lucchese.
Scarpa happy to just control the position for now.
Lucchese is looking for a sweep.

Lucchese takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Scarpa grinds an elbow into Lucchese's temple.
Lucchese tries to bench press Scarpa off him but Scarpa keeps the position.
Lucchese is working hard here to advance position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lucchese strikes from the bottom but Scarpa takes advantage and advances to full mount!

Gregory Scarpa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
