Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Nikolaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maniek King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Nikolaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maniek King!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev misses with a hook. King ducked under it nicely.
Nikolaev misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from King.
Nikolaev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that King has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nikolaev shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense.
King shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nikolaev sprawls well. Nikolaev wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. King gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck for King with that takedown attempt.
Vladimir Nikolaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maniek King.
Nikolaev takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Nikolaev tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

King misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Nikolaev.
Nikolaev prevents the takedown attempt.
Nikolaev has a couple of punches blocked by King.
Nikolaev drops down looking for an ankle pick but King pulls his leg out and moves away.
Maniek King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King shoots for a takedown but Nikolaev saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nikolaev tries to keep at a distance but King has taken the fight into the clinch.
Nikolaev goes for a takedown in the clinch but King prevents it.
King stops a takedown attempt from Nikolaev.

King keeps control of Nikolaev as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
King tries for a takedown. No joy.

King has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nikolaev is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
King wants a takedown but no success here.

King manages to pull guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

King looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nikolaev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nikolaev is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
King has momentary wrist control but Nikolaev slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nikolaev sitting in guard here, content to control.
Nikolaev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nikolaev postures up and lands a big shot to King's brow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nikolaev tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
Nikolaev cracks King with a solid left hand.
Nikolaev trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nikolaev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Nikolaev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vladimir Nikolaev will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nikolaev will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nikolaev is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Nikolaev circles away and we're back to standing.
Maniek King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nikolaev scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
King is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nikolaev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nikolaev's back!
Nikolaev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
King is riding his opponent, not letting Nikolaev buck him off.
A lull in the action here.
Nikolaev tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
King wants to get back to his feet but Nikolaev is holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nikolaev pinned against the cage. Nikolaev gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice sprawl there from Nikolaev as King shoots in.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

King fails to pull the fight into his guard.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nikolaev stuffs the takedown.
King displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nikolaev throws out the jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nikolaev.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nikolaev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Nikolaev throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Nikolaev finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nikolaev working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of King's head.
Nikolaev works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Nikolaev lands with a punch from half guard.
Nikolaev lands strikes from half guard.
Nikolaev is trying to control. King wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Nikolaev is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because King is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Nikolaev is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and King defends it well.
Nikolaev slips a nice elbow through King's hands, connecting with King's forehead.
King is refusing to be controlled, as Nikolaev sits in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

King looking for submissions off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King has hold of Nikolaev's hands but Nikolaev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nikolaev circles away quickly and effectively.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Nikolaev misses with a telegraphed body shot

and King counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nikolaev won't be happy with that.

King lands a nice forearm strike.

Nikolaev is looking to reverse the position.

Nikolaev managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by King.

King works to advance to full mount. Nikolaev defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
King content just to control the position here.
King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nikolaev is looking to escape.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nikolaev tries to reverse the position but King maintains control.

Nikolaev tries to hold on but King pushes him away.
King tries to control but Nikolaev wriggling away.
Nikolaev manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
King is looking to take a break and control but Nikolaev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

King is working for a kimura but Nikolaev is defending it quite comfortably.
Nikolaev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nikolaev wants to control but King is keeping busy.
Nikolaev is looking to improve his position.

King is looking to take a break and control but Nikolaev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vladimir Nikolaev.
Nikolaev throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
King is looking to slow Nikolaev down with leg kicks.
Nikolaev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts King as he jumps to the side.
Left hook, right uppercut from King.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nikolaev fails to land the takedown.

King drives through with a takedown into Nikolaev's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Maniek King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nikolaev looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Maniek King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nikolaev has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
