PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barrett Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomas Vilpis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Barrett Hanson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Barrett Hanson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Barrett Hanson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomas Vilpis!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanson wants to clinch.
Hanson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vilpis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vilpis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hanson but Hanson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Vilpis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Hanson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vilpis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Vilpis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hanson's waist but Hanson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vilpis off to one side.
Vilpis throws a sloppy head kick and Hanson moves out of range easily.
Vilpis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Vilpis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hanson throws a right hand that Vilpis ducks under and follows up with a left that Vilpis also avoids with ease.

That was a close round but I would say that Barrett Hanson will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Vilpis tries to clinch up but Hanson circles away and keeps his distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vilpis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hanson shoots in looking for a takedown but Vilpis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hanson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Vilpis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hanson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Vilpis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hanson walks away with a smile on his face. Vilpis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hanson dives in for a single leg takedown but Vilpis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hanson is trying to pull guard but Vilpis has him pressed against the cage.
Hanson wants to stall.

Vilpis has hold of one of Hanson's legs. Hanson is fighting the takedown attempt but Vilpis gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vilpis is looking to stand up but Hanson won't let him.
Hanson controls Vilpis momentarily but Vilpis frees himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Tomas Vilpis.
I think Vilpis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
