Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Federico Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nikoshima Watanabe!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Watanabe, pushing him back against the cage.

Adams decides to pull guard.

Watanabe has gone for a leg lock! Adams slips out almost immediately though and dives into Watanabe's guard.
Adams is pushing down on Watanabe's leg trying to pass to half guard. Watanabe is fighting to maintain full guard but Adams has managed to sneak the leg through.
Adams missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Adams wants to stand but Watanabe has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Watanabe tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Adams manages to move to mount!

Adams goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Watanabe is on top in guard.

Adams might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Watanabe has gone for a leg lock! Adams slips out almost immediately though and dives into Watanabe's guard.
Watanabe wants to stand and escape but Adams is having none of it.

Adams wants to get up but he can't break Watanabe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Watanabe wants to stand but Adams is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Federico Adams wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Adams darts in and clinches Watanabe up against the cage.
Adams has Watanabe pushed against the cage.
Watanabe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Adams smiles and moves away.

Watanabe shoots in looking for a takedown. Adams tries to sprawl out of it but Watanabe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Adams manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Adams has closed the distance and engaged Watanabe in a clinch.

Adams jumps into guard, dragging Watanabe to the mat.
Adams is pulling down on Watanabe's head to control his posture.

Watanabe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Adams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Watanabe, into his guard.
Adams is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Federico Adams has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Adams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

It looks like Adams is going to stand back up.
Adams wants to free his trapped foot but Watanabe is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ground and pound from Adams.

Adams is looking for a kimura but Watanabe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Adams to get the leverage.
Adams wants to stand but Watanabe has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Watanabe is trying to stand.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Adams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Watanabe seems a little lost for a moment, as Adams dominates the positioning.
Adams creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The referee asks Adams politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Adams prefers to stall for the moment though.
Adams lands a decent elbow from side control.
Adams is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Watanabe's shoulder. That is not cool.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Federico Adams wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Adams throws a head kick that misses
and Watanabe counters with a head kick. That will keep Adams thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Adams looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Watanabe!
Watanabe is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Watanabe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Adams tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Adams lands a nice forearm strike.

Adams looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Watanabe's face as Adams controls the position.
Watanabe is working to avoid the ground and pound but Adams connects with a decent elbow.

Adams lands an elbow.

Adams decides to stand back up.
Watanabe shoots in and drives through. Adams sprawls well.

and Adams counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Come on Adams - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Watanabe tries to keep at a distance but Adams has taken the fight into the clinch.

Well Adams has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
