Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dominique Stanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike DeVries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dominique Stanton has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dominique Stanton seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DeVries but DeVries pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stanton takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like Dominique Stanton has been cut.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stanton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stanton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
DeVries is trying to control the position but Stanton postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Dominique Stanton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stanton stuffs the takedown attempt from DeVries. DeVries gets slowly back to his feet.

and Stanton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stanton.
DeVries tries to score a body lock takedown but Stanton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stanton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
DeVries is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

DeVries drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and DeVries jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Stanton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. DeVries is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stanton.

DeVries has control of Stanton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stanton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeVries takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Stanton sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

DeVries dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
DeVries throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
DeVries tries for a takedown but Stanton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Stanton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. DeVries manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stanton misses the shot to the body.

DeVries has managed to clinch.
DeVries tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stanton just stands there and leans against the cage.
Stanton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. DeVries smiles and moves away.

DeVries got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stanton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, DeVries has managed to get both his arms back between Stanton's legs - danger averted.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DeVries changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stanton tries to avoid it but DeVries manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stanton to the ground. Stanton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

DeVries tightens his grip and picks Stanton up, before dumping him to the ground. Stanton manages to land in guard.
