PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thaddeus Bender (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klaun Gumka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thaddeus Bender!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Klaun Gumka!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bender throws a low kick, looking for Gumka's leg but Gumka calmly moves out of range.
Gumka misses with a head kick.

Gumka shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bender's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gumka slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gumka wants to get up but he can't break Bender's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Klaun Gumka hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bender stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bender wants it to stay on the feet.

and Gumka counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gumka closes the distance and clinches up with Bender, looking for a takedown. Gumka pushes Bender against the cage but Bender circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Bender. No joy for Gumka on that attempt.
Thaddeus Bender has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaun Gumka.

Bender manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Gumka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bender shoots in for a double leg but Gumka sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bender defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gumka.
Gumka tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bender sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gumka somewhat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bender lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gumka has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gumka and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Gumka moves forwards but Bender connects with a nice, crisp jab.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bender displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gumka.

A close round but Klaun Gumka will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Bender works over Gumka's head and body with a nice combination.
Gumka avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bender shoots for a takedown but Gumka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
No joy there for Gumka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gumka will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bender throws a sloppy head kick and Gumka moves out of range easily.
Gumka tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bender defends well and Gumka ends up having to push Bender into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bender has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Gumka.

Gumka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bender.
Bender swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Gumka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gumka is trying to control the position but Bender postures up.
Bender wants to stand but Gumka is controlling his posture from full guard.
Gumka thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Bender drops back looking for a leg! Gumka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gumka manages to kick Bender off! Bender jumps back into Gumka's guard.

Bender wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gumka, who protects the arm well.

Gumka is looking to regain half guard here but Bender keeps moving and retains side control.

Bender stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bender changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gumka tries to avoid it but Bender manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gumka to the ground. Gumka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thaddeus Bender dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Bender doesn't manage to clinch there - Gumka circles away.

and Gumka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Gumka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bender swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gumka wants to stand but Bender has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gumka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gumka wants to control from the top but Bender keeps moving.

Bender looks to land a strike but Gumka avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Bender stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gumka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gumka wants to get back to his feet but Bender is dominant here and he's now got Gumka's back!

Bender slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thaddeus Bender.
Well Bender has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
