Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sayan Sever (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mahoney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Mahoney or perhaps it was just good defense by Sever which made him look bad.
Mahoney misses with a takedown attempt - Sever sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mahoney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sever to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sever drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mahoney dives on top into guard.

Sever has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mahoney can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mahoney wants to pass the guard but Sever is keeping the position.
Mahoney sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sever's guard.
Mahoney works his way into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sever tries to get back to half guard but can't.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sever bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Sever drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mahoney dives on top into guard.

Sever isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mahoney stacks Sever on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mahoney!
Mahoney advances nicely into full mount.

Mahoney swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
