Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robby Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alejandro Moreno has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robby Avery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alejandro Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Moreno swivels and escapes.
Moreno misses with a double jab.
Moreno shoots for a double leg takedown but Avery sprawls well. He's pushed Moreno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Moreno has a takedown stuffed.

Avery rushes Moreno and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Moreno is working for takedown but Avery is calmly controlling the position for now.
Robby Avery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alejandro Moreno.
Avery is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Moreno has had enough of the clinch but Avery keeps him there for the moment.
Avery tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Moreno smiles and moves away.
Avery takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Moreno throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Avery's waist but Avery gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moreno off to one side.

and Avery counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Moreno!
Moreno looks winded!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Avery tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Avery remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Moreno is not content to let Avery control the position.
Avery tries to stand but Moreno is controlling his head.

Avery winds up and cracks Moreno with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Moreno is looking to get back to is feet but Avery passes into side control.
Avery tries to move to full mount but Moreno actually manages to regain half guard.

Moreno is in trouble now - Avery has advanced to mount!
Moreno is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Avery is in the full mount, landing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Avery cracks Moreno with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Avery goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Moreno turns into him and now he's in Avery's guard.
Moreno works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robby Avery dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Moreno dives in for a single leg takedown but Avery sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Avery fails to pull guard.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Moreno wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Avery tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Moreno fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Moreno tries to pull guard but Avery holds him up against the cage and eventually Moreno drops back down to his feet.

Avery ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Avery no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Still in half guard, Avery seems content to control.
Moreno is trying to control but Avery manages to pass to mount!
Avery has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Avery is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Moreno to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Moreno shrugs it off.
Avery tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Avery is looking to stand but Avery has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Moreno slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Avery passes the guard and advances to mount!
Robby Avery overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Avery prevents Moreno from getting the reversal.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Moreno tries to close the distance and clinch but Avery swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Avery misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Moreno dives in and grabs Avery's left leg, looking for a takedown. Avery pushes down on Moreno's head and hops out.
Nice takedown defense from Avery. No joy for Moreno on that attempt.

Avery misses with a wild body shot.
Avery throws a head kick that misses.
Avery goes for a double leg but Moreno avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Moreno continues to drive forward.
Moreno tries to pull guard but Avery forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Moreno takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Moreno jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Avery walks away with a smile on his face. Moreno gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Avery misses with a leg kick.
Avery throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Moreno sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Moreno throws a head kick that misses.
Avery shoots in but no luck this time.
Avery circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moreno shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Avery as he jumps to the side.
Avery throws the kick towards the body but Moreno avoids it.
Avery fails with the takedown.
Moreno fails to land the takedown.
Avery blocks a head kick by Moreno.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moreno defending well as Avery loads up on a big left hand.
Avery really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Avery gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Avery is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Avery gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Moreno wants to get back to full guard.
Avery uses his free foot to push down on Moreno's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moreno.
A nice elbow there by Avery.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Avery tries to control but Moreno wriggling away.

Moreno is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Avery scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Moreno is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The referee warns Moreno that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Avery, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
