Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fredo Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benito Kamelas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benito Kamelas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fredo Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benito Kamelas!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamelas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Santana takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Nice takedown defense from Kamelas. No joy for Santana on that attempt.
Kamelas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kamelas throws a wild body kick that Santana sees coming a mile off.
Santana takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kamelas scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Santana steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kamelas.
Kamelas misses with a left hand

and Santana counters with a single leg into guard. Kamelas didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Santana is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Santana wants to get up but he can't break Kamelas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Santana wants to stand and escape but instead Kamelas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Santana holds on and takes a little breather.
Santana wants to stand but Kamelas is controlling the position.

Santana is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kamelas defends well.
Santana is trying to keep Kamelas in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kamelas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Santana looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Santana looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Santana!

Santana goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kamelas rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Santana's guard! Nice work there by Kamelas!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kamelas trying to stand up but can't free himself from Santana's guard.
Kamelas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kamelas is fighting to break Santana's control of his arms but Santana is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Santana is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kamelas is looking to stand up but Santana won't let him.

Santana throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kamelas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Santana is in Kamelas's guard.

Santana is taking a breather. Kamelas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kamelas is in trouble now - Santana has advanced to mount!

Santana goes for an armbar but Kamelas turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kamelas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Santana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Santana tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Santana looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kamelas is avoiding damage well.
Santana tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Santana trying to control the position but Kamelas is working away.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Kamelas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Santana wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Fredo Santana has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nice uppercut there from Kamelas.
Kamelas uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Santana has time to react.
Kamelas scores with a jab to the jaw.
Kamelas throws a half hearted mid kick.

Santana gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Santana has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kamelas after a bit of a struggle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kamelas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kamelas throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Santana decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kamelas's guard.
Kamelas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santana slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fredo Santana wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Santana moves out of range as Kamelas throws a body kick.
Kamelas throws a big shot that misses.
Santana throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kamelas on the side of the head.
Kamelas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Benito Kamelas seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kamelas is breathing heavily.
Kamelas misses with an uppercut. Santana saw that one coming.
Kamelas scores with a spinning back kick!
Santana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Santana throws a body kick that misses.

Kamelas throws a leg kick but Santana sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Kamelas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A jab from Santana does it's job there.
Kamelas blocks a head kick by Santana.
Kamelas misses the jab.
Santana looks for a takedown but Kamelas sprawls well.
Kamelas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Santana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kamelas pinned against the cage. Kamelas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fredo Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santana throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Santana gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kamelas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kamelas lands with an overhand left.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Santana feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Santana looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Kamelas wants to land a leg kick but Santana is out of range.
Kamelas leaves Santana with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kamelas tries a head kick but it misses.
Kamelas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Santana.
Santana misses with a takedown attempt - Kamelas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fredo Santana will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kamelas walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Santana drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Kamelas swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Santana's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benito Kamelas!
