PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Chabala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Azuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Matt Chabala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Akira Azuma!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azuma throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Azuma moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Chabala.
Azuma shoots in looking for a takedown. Chabala tries to sprawl out of it but Azuma keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chabala manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice uppercut lands for Chabala. That snapped Azuma's head back.
Chabala scoring well with a low kick there.
A slow jab from Chabala misses its intended target.
A punch combination from Chabala misses.
Azuma throws a jab but it's blocked by Chabala.
Azuma shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chabala as he jumps to the side.
Azuma bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fighters circling - Azuma throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Chabala connects with a leg kick. Azuma looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Chabala scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Azuma doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chabala avoids the body shot from Azuma.
Chabala pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chabala dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Azuma. That did some damage!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Azuma moves forwards but Chabala connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Azuma shoots for a double leg takedown but Chabala sprawls well. He's pushed Azuma's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Matt Chabala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akira Azuma.
Chabala uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Azuma.
Chabala throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Azuma looks winded!
Azuma stalks Chabala and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chabala's face. Chabala staggers backwards, shaken.
Azuma throws a jab but it's blocked by Chabala.
Azuma chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Chabala can pounce on him.
Azuma has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Chabala.
Azuma jabbing away but nothing is landing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Akira Azuma has been cut.
That kick from Chabala tenderised Azuma's leg. Azuma is trying to keep his angry face on.

Chabala lands a big head kick that sends Azuma tumbling to the mat! Chabala takes a step backwards and waves Azuma back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Azuma is rocked!
Azuma's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
That kick from Chabala tenderised Azuma's leg. Azuma is trying to keep his angry face on.
Azuma is still on wobbly legs! Can Chabala finish him?
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Chabala. Azuma shrugs it off though.
Chabala throws a head kick that misses.
Azuma is trying desperately to land a takedown but Chabala is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Azuma.
Azuma takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Azuma seems to have recovered his senses.

Azuma misses with a lunging right hand
and Chabala counters with a good low kick that Azuma was not able to check.
Chabala misses with a jab, cross combination.
A punch lands to the side of Azuma 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Azuma takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A slapping leg kick lands for Chabala.
Azuma chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Chabala can pounce on him.
Azuma on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Chabala. Chabala obviously looking to wear him down.
Chabala lands a brutal head kick. Azuma looks out on his feet and Chabala throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
