The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bill closes the distance and clinches up with Styless, looking for a takedown. Bill pushes Styless against the cage but Styless circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Styless misses with a kick to the body.
Shaslik Styless seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Styless tries to work over Bill's front leg with a kick but Bill checks it.
Bill is trying hard to land a takedown here. Styless sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Bill swings around for an armbar but Styless sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bill's guard.

Bill felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bill shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bill fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Styless avoids it really well and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Bill or perhaps it was just good defense by Styless which made him look bad.

We've been told by Styless's head coaches at Men of Mayhem (1 TPL, 6 DBL, 5 SGL)(50 member cap) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Styless lands a brutal head kick. Bill looks out on his feet and Styless throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
