Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mendy Ripstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mendy Ripstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanson throws a head kick but Ripstein moves out of range.

Ripstein shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Swanson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ripstein prevents Swanson from escaping the position.
Ripstein content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swanson wants to get back to his feet.

Ripstein stands up and beckons Swanson to his feet.

Mark Swanson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ripstein shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Swanson but Swanson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ripstein rushes Swanson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Swanson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ripstein feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Swanson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ripstein controls the pace.

Ripstein stands and steps away. Swanson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ripstein has managed to clinch.
Ripstein wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Swanson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ripstein has Swanson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Swanson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Swanson throws a knee to the head but misses.
Swanson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ripstein really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ripstein lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Swanson!

Swanson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ripstein is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Swanson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ripstein is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Swanson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ripstein darts in looking for a takedown but Swanson gets double underhooks and turns Ripstein into the cage.

Swanson is trying to trip Ripstein. He has hold of a leg but Ripstein is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Swanson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ripstein fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Swanson to the ground. Ripstein is now in Swanson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ripstein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Swanson's head.

Ripstein has his foot on Swanson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Swanson works his way back into a safe position though.

Swanson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Mendy Ripstein overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Swanson has hold of Ripstein's hands but Ripstein slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Swanson tries to kick Ripstein off but Ripstein keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ripstein is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Swanson defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Swanson throws a sloppy head kick and Ripstein moves out of range easily.
Swanson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ripstein scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Mendy Ripstein is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ripstein shoots in looking for a takedown. Swanson tries to sprawl out of it but Ripstein keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Swanson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Swanson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Swanson wants it to stay on the feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Swanson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Ripstein is trying to stick to Swanson's back but Swanson is turning into Ripstein. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ripstein's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Swanson.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mendy Ripstein wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Mendy Ripstein showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ripstein, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
