PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Giorgio Girardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hart's choice of entrance music: King Of KIngs. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Girardi misses with a looping right.
Girardi shoots for a takedown but Hart saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Girardi.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hart has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Hart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Girardi's waist but Girardi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hart off to one side.
Hart shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Girardi sprawls well. Girardi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hart gets slowly back to his feet.
Giorgio Girardi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stevie Hart.

Girardi feints and as Hart raises his hands in defense, Girardi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hart can do anything to dispel that myth.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Girardi drops back looking for a leg! Hart is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hart manages to kick Girardi off! Girardi jumps back into Hart's guard.

Girardi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Girardi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hart dives on top into guard.

Girardi has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hart should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Girardi has tightened it up now! Hart should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
