Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ai Za (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Kamahawe Ole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamahawe Ole is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: E ala E by Israel . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ai Za!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, JJ Kamahawe Ole!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Za drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Za wants to control from the top but Kamahawe Ole keeps moving.
Kamahawe Ole is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kamahawe Ole wants to sweep but no luck.
Kamahawe Ole keeping moving, preventing Za from controlling successfully.
We've been hearing good reports from Za's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kamahawe Ole tries to land a sweep but no joy.

We're going to have a standup here because Ai Za wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Za is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kamahawe Ole knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Za wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kamahawe Ole, who protects the arm well.

Za is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kamahawe Ole is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Za goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kamahawe Ole has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Za but great work by Kamahawe Ole.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Za tries to buck Kamahawe Ole off but Kamahawe Ole is having none of it.
Kamahawe Ole wants to control but Za is keeping him busy.

Kamahawe Ole tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Za is looking to regain half guard here but Kamahawe Ole keeps moving and retains side control.
Kamahawe Ole tries to move into full mount but can't pass Za's legs.
Za tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kamahawe Ole presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Za wants to hold on but Kamahawe Ole pushes him away.
Kamahawe Ole wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Kamahawe Ole stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Za swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Za is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kamahawe Ole wants to control from the top but Za keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. JJ Kamahawe Ole wasn't active enough on the ground.

Za is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That was a close round but I would say that Ai Za will probably get the nod.

Za drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kamahawe Ole manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Za has Kamahawe Ole in his guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Za is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Za passes to full mount!

Za working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kamahawe Ole turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Za off and cradles Kamahawe Ole's limp body as Za celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ai Za!
