The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jelavic circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jelavic throws a hook but Smoove blocks it.
Smoove sizes up Jelavic with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Smoove connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jelavic momentarily.

and Jelavic counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smoove closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

The fight stays on the outside here - Smoove looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jelavic shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smoove napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Jelavic lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Smoove down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
