Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond Whittaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raje Malapitan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whittaker walks into a jab.
Whittaker moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Whittaker tries to clinch up but Malapitan circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice defenses there by Whittaker.
Whittaker will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Malapitan misses with a body shot.
Malapitan throws a hook but Whittaker blocks it.
Whittaker uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Malapitan has time to react.
Whittaker tries to close the distance and clinch but Malapitan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Whittaker throws a hook but Malapitan avoids it easily.
Whittaker connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Malapitan's hands.

Whittaker forces Malapitan back against the cage and clinches.
Malapitan working hard to break the clinch.
Our sources have told us that Whittaker has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Malapitan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Whittaker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Malapitan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Malapitan gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Whittaker.

Whittaker tries to clinch up

The fighters circling - Whittaker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A big left from Whittaker misses.
Malapitan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Whittaker.
Whittaker dips to his left and cracks Malapitan with an uppercut!
Whittaker wants to clinch
and Malapitan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Malapitan misses with a wild body shot.
Whittaker takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Whittaker throws a poor cross that misses
and Malapitan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fighters circling - Malapitan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A looping hook to the body misses from Malapitan. Whittaker does a little dance to reset his feet.
Whittaker tries to clinch but Malapitan moves away
and Malapitan counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Whittaker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Malapitan clobbers Whittaker with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Whittaker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Whittaker throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Raymond Whittaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malapitan takes one to the side of the head.
Whittaker bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nice defenses there by Whittaker.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Whittaker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Malapitan blocks a jab.
An inside leg kick lands from Whittaker.

Whittaker misses with a combination
and Whittaker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Raje Malapitan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Whittaker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Whittaker closes the distance looking to clinch
enabling Malapitan to counter with a crisp jab.
Whittaker lands a jab to the head.


Malapitan is rocked!
Malapitan misses with a left hand
and Whittaker rattles Malapitan with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Malapitan tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Whittaker dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Malapitan stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Raymond Whittaker!
An out of breath Raymond Whittaker thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
