PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Hooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zachary Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryan Knight!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hooper fails with a takedown attempt.
Knight throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Knight scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Knight scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A head kick from Knight lands but Hooper takes it in his stride.
A punch lands to the side of Hooper 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Knight wants to clinch up but Hooper keeps it at a distance.

Hooper drives through and clinches with Knight against the cage.
Hooper avoids a wild elbow strike from Knight.

Hooper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hooper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Knight tries to stand but Hooper is controlling from the bottom.
Hooper on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hooper tries to get out of the position.

Hooper working for a triangle but Knight defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hooper manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Hooper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Knight shoots in and drives through. Hooper sprawls well.
Knight tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Knight misses the shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knight keeps the fight on the outside.
Knight misses with a body kick.
Hooper on the wrong end of a nice jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Knight enables Hooper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Knight manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Knight wants to stand but Hooper is controlling the position.
Hooper sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hooper stands and throws Knight's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Knight is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hooper asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hooper takes a little break here. Knight wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Knight parries the strikes from Hooper easily there. Hooper is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Knight to escape.

Hooper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Knight to his feet.
Knight ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Knight wants to clinch

and Hooper holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Knight tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hooper avoids it.
Knight using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zachary Hooper will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hooper misses with a right hand
and Knight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Knight stuns Hooper with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Knight fails to land the takedown.
Knight throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Hooper swats away the attempt to clinch by Knight.
Hooper darts in looking for a takedown but Knight gets double underhooks and turns Hooper into the cage.
Knight wants to get back to striking at distance but Hooper won't allow it.

Hooper breaks the clinch.

and Hooper counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hooper is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hooper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Knight is working an open guard so Hooper takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Knight lands a jab-cross combination.
Knight throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Knight lands the left hand.
Knight is looking to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hooper changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Knight looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Knight really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hooper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hooper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Knight wants to get back to his feet but Hooper drags him back down.

Hooper is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Knight has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Knight tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Knight has left one of his arms exposed and Hooper doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Knight screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Zachary Hooper!
