PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Bantrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Moonra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sebastian Bantrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Moonra!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bantrell tries to sprawl but Moonra drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Moonra lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Bantrell regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Moonra.
Moonra in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bantrell wants to sweep here but Moonra controlling him for the moment.
Moonra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moonra throws an elbow that misses. Bantrell uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Moonra's guard. Nice move by Bantrell!
Moonra has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Moonra pulls Bantrell in close to prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Sebastian Bantrell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Moonra tries to keep at a distance but Bantrell has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bantrell connects with a nasty looking knee right to Moonra's face.

Moonra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Moonra looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bantrell walks into a stiff left hand from Moonra.


It looks like Sebastian Bantrell has been cut.
Moonra shoots in but no luck this time.
Moonra misses with a right hand
and Bantrell counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bantrell slips under a jab from Moonra.
Bantrell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Moonra manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bantrell moves in looking to clinch but Moonra pushes him off.
We've been hearing reports that Bantrell has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Moonra will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Moonra fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bantrell, pushing him back against the cage.

Moonra swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moonra.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bantrell tries to improve position but can't.
Moonra looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Bantrell is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jacob Moonra will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Sebastian Bantrell's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Moonra feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bantrell's calf.
Jacob Moonra seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bantrell slaps away a takedown attempt from Moonra, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sebastian Bantrell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moonra tries to close the distance and clinch but Bantrell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moonra lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Bantrell moves in looking to clinch but Moonra pushes him off.

Moonra looks for a takedown but Bantrell sprawls well.
Moonra tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bantrell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Moonra somewhat.
Sebastian Bantrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Moonra.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Moonra lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bantrell has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bantrell and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

letting Bantrell counter with a right hand.


It looks like Jacob Moonra has been cut.

Moonra swats away the attempt to clinch by Bantrell.
Moonra thows a body shot but no joy.
Moonra misses with a looping left.
Moonra misses with a leg kick
and Bantrell counters with a head kick that wobbles Moonra - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Bantrell sends him down. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sebastian Bantrell!
Sebastian Bantrell decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
