Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shelton Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Jakson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Shelton Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Jakson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jakson has managed to clinch.
Rice is trying to stall.

Jakson gets control of Rice's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jakson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jakson is controlling Rice's posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jakson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rice's guard.
Jakson tries to free his leg and advance position but Rice is retaining full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jakson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Rice is looking for a triangle but Jakson pushes his legs off easily.
Jakson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rice is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jakson drops back looking for a leg! Rice is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rice manages to kick Jakson off! Jakson jumps back into Rice's guard.

William Jakson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Rice tries for a takedown but Jakson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jakson has managed to clinch.

Rice stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Rice wants to take the fight to the mat but Jakson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Jakson wants a takedown but no success here.
Jakson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rice jumps guard but Jakson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Rice is trying to push Jakson away but Jakson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jakson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rice is keeping busy.
Rice has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jakson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jakson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rice.
Jakson has Rice pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rice manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jakson drags the fight down to the ground.
Rice might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jakson wants to hit a switch here but Rice passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jakson there!
Jakson tries to hold on but Rice pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rice trying to control but Jakson is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jakson is defended easily by Rice.

Jakson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rice, pushing him back against the cage.
Rice tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jakson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jakson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rice's efforts to push away.

Rice wanted to stand there but Jakson had control of the position.

Jakson wants to stand up but Rice is controlling him.
Jakson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rice!

Jakson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Rice can't escape the position.
Jakson wants to control the pace but Rice is squirming around nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jakson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jakson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rice is on top in guard.

Jakson pulls Rice in close to prevent any damage.
Jakson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jakson keeping moving, preventing Rice from controlling successfully.
Jakson is pulling down on Rice's head. It's preventing any offense from Rice, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by William Jakson.
Jakson thows a body shot but no joy.

Rice misses with a takedown attempt

and Jakson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jakson.
Rice being controlled here, momentarily.
Jakson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jakson stands and throws Rice's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Jakson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Jakson circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jakson drives through and clinches with Rice against the cage.
Rice goes for a takedown attempt but Jakson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jakson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Jakson looks to land a combination but Rice avoids it well.
Jakson stuffs the takedown.
Rice lands with a slapping head kick.

Jakson throws a series of punches but Rice moves out of range.
Jakson is looking to clinch.

Horrible takedown by Rice or perhaps it was just good defense by Jakson which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shelton Rice. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jakson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jakson slips a nice elbow through Rice's hands, connecting with Rice's forehead.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rice has hold of Jakson's hands but Jakson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Still in half guard, Jakson seems content to control.

Jakson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Jakson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Rice trying to control but Jakson postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jakson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rice on his heels. He'll look to pass Rice's guard now, I'm sure.

Jakson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rice dives on top into guard.
Jakson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rice manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jakson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rice manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jakson has Rice in his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Jakson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jakson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
