Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mingo Deems (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Deems gets a clinch.
Deems misses with a knee strike.
Deems lands an elbow inside that Pettis shrugs off.

Deems breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Deems closes the distance and clinches.
Pettis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Deems.
Deems gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Deems lands a right hand that snaps the head of Pettis backwards.

Deems jumps into guard, dragging Pettis to the mat.
Deems looking for a sweep. Not yet Deems, not yet.
Deems scores with a short punch from the bottom.
Pettis wants to control from the top but Deems keeps moving.
Deems looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pettis is one step ahead there.

Deems manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Deems lands an elbow inside that Pettis shrugs off.
Deems scores with a hook to the body.
Deems landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Deems pulls guard effortlessly.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Deems holds on and takes a little breather.
Pettis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Pettis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Deems manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pettis has Deems in his guard.
Deems is looking to work some ground and pound but Pettis has wrist control.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Deems's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Deems loads up on a big left hand. Pettis felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Deems looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Pettis can't hide his disappointment, as Deems celebrates the victory.
