PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kahlua Zordick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ballard Magnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zordick shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Magnar but Magnar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zordick has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Nordic Top Team in the buildup to the fight.
Magnar scores with a jab to the head.
Magnar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Magnar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Zordick throws the kick towards the body but Magnar avoids it.

Zordick bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
You can see the frustration on Magnar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Zordick tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zordick has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zordick is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Magnar has escaped the position, nice work there.
Magnar tries to bench press Zordick off him but Zordick keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zordick advances to mount.
Magnar is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Magnar wants to control but Zordick is having none of it.
Magnar is squirming around, avoiding Zordick's attempts to control the action.

Zordick is really struggling to control Magnar but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Magnar is working to get back to half guard.
Zordick wants to control the pace but Magnar is squirming around nicely.

Zordick goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Magnar turns into him and now he's in Zordick's guard.

Zordick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Magnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Magnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Magnar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zordick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Magnar has managed to get both his arms back between Zordick's legs - danger averted.
Magnar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Magnar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zordick paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Zordick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Magnar as he jumps to the side.
Magnar misses with an uppercut. Zordick saw that one coming.
Magnar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zordick was well out of range. Poor timing from Magnar.

Magnar on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Magnar throws a hook but Zordick blocks it.
Zordick throws the kick towards the body but Magnar avoids it.

Magnar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Zordick fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Magnar is out of range.

and Zordick counters with a single leg into guard. Magnar didn't expect that.
Zordick is pushing down on Magnar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Magnar is fighting to maintain full guard but Zordick has managed to sneak the leg through.
Zordick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Magnar keeps working.
Zordick is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Magnar!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Zordick has hold of Magnar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Magnar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Magnar lands with an uppercut that bounces Zordick off the cage and back into range.

Zordick is pushing Magnar up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Zordick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Magnar walks away with a smile on his face. Zordick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Zordick misses with a hook. Magnar ducked under it nicely.
Magnar digs a good body shot into Zordick's ribs.
Magnar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Zordick's hands.

Magnar throws a series of punches but Zordick moves out of range.
Zordick digs a good hook to Magnar's body.
Magnar loads up on a big right hand but Zordick slips the punch.
Zordick takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Magnar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Magnar throws a poor cross that misses
and Zordick counters with a head kick. That will keep Magnar thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zordick pivots, looking for a leg kick but Magnar is out of range and Zordick settles back down.

Magnar moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Magnar moves away from the strike by Zordick.

Zordick throws a front kick aimed at Magnar's knee but Magnar avoids it well.
Zordick is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Magnar's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Zordick fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Magnar avoids it really well and circles away.
Ballard Magnar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Zordick dives in and scores a takedown into Magnar's guard.
Zordick tries to free his leg and advance position but Magnar is retaining full guard.

Magnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Magnar is trying to push Zordick off with his feet but Zordick grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Magnar's ankles and Magnar is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
