PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allen comes to the cage accompanied by Of wolf and man. Silva is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX - Intro. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Joe Silva enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jared Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Silva!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Silva.
Allen is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Allen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Allen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Silva has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva swings around for an armbar but Allen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.
Silva can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Allen controls the pace.
Allen is working Silva over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Allen lands a couple of elbows.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Allen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Allen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Allen has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Allen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Allen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Silva's head.
Allen connects with a couple of short punches.
Allen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Silva has his foot on Allen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Allen works his way back into a safe position though.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Allen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Allen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Allen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jared Allen wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Allen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Allen wants to stand up but Silva is controlling him.
Silva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Allen is keeping the position for now.
Allen is controlling Silva's posture.
Allen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Allen wants to sweep but no luck.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Allen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Silva pushing down on Allen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
We've been informed that Silva has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Silva trying to control from Allen's half guard. Allen has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Allen striking off his back but it's not causing Silva any problems.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Allen is retaining full guard.
Allen is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Allen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Allen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Allen!
Allen is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Silva's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Silva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Allen was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Allen dives on top into guard.
Allen looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jared Allen.

Silva shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Allen is trying to defend but Silva finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Allen wants to get back to his feet.
Allen wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
Allen wants to get back to his feet.
Silva thows a huge punch but Allen dodges it nicely.
Allen tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Silva wants to take a breather but Allen is having none of it.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Allen pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.

Silva is working for an americana but Allen has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Silva was thinking about the submission.
Joe Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Allen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Silva working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Allen wants to get back to his feet but Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Allen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Allen tries to get out of the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.

Allen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Allen is now in Silva's guard.
Allen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Allen wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Joe Silva will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Allen slips a jab from Silva.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Silva avoids the strikes from the bottom by Allen.
Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Allen tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Allen is concentrating on defense, preventing Silva from advancing position.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Allen keeps working.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Allen sees it coming and defends easily.

Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Allen defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Allen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joe Silva!
After the fight, Joe Silva was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
