Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juliano Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristan Maruyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Villar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Prophet by Soulfly. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maruyama throws a lazy right hand but Villar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Maruyama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Maruyama lands a nice leg kick that just misses Villar's sensitive parts.

Villar has his foot on Maruyama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maruyama works his way back into a safe position though.

Villar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maruyama can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Villar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maruyama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maruyama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Villar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maruyama defends well.

Villar is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Reign in Blood, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Maruyama has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Maruyama gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Villar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Maruyama walks away with a smile on his face. Villar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Maruyama throws a sloppy head kick and Villar moves out of range easily.

Villar gets control of Maruyama's arms and successfully pulls guard. Villar will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Juliano Villar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Maruyama has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Villar to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Maruyama is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Villar pulls down on the head and he's put Maruyama to sleep! This one is all over!
