Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colby Hines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Cesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Colby Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Cesar!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hines shoots in and bounces Cesar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hines wants to control from the top but Cesar keeps moving.
Cesar has a closed guard, preventing Hines from standing up.
Hines really is a fat lump.

Cesar manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Hines shoots in and gets a takedown into Cesar's guard.
Cesar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hines's guard.

Cesar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cesar postures up and lands a big shot to Hines's brow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cesar is stalling in the full guard.

Hines keeping full guard, as Cesar tries to pass.
Cesar trying to control but Hines is working from the bottom.

Hines escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cesar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hines not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cesar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hines is looking to sweep but instead, Cesar has passed into half guard.
Hines knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cesar on the ground.

Cesar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cesar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cesar wants to control but Hines is keeping him busy.
Cesar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hines blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cesar.
Cesar moves into full mount! Hines won't be happy about that!

Hines takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Cesar working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Cesar postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hines looks a forlorn figure.

Cesar swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hines is now in Cesar's guard. A big mistake from Cesar there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cesar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hines can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cesar is looking for a triangle but Hines pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cesar kicks Hines off and gets to his feet.

Hines decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cesar wants to get back to his feet.

Cesar is looking to control Hines's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cesar avoid being mounted?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hines is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cesar sees it coming and defends easily.
Cesar works his way to full guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcos Cesar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hines misses with a low kick.
Colby Hines seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cesar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hines avoids it really well and circles away.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cesar. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hines manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cesar on his heels. He'll look to pass Cesar's guard now, I'm sure.
Cesar is trying to control the position but Hines postures up.
Cesar wants to stand up but Hines is controlling him.
Hines stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cesar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cesar has his foot on Hines's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hines works his way back into a safe position though.

Cesar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hines defends well.
Cesar is breathing heavily.

Hines controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hines gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hines dodges the punch combination from Cesar.

Hines fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cesar to the ground. Hines is now in Cesar's guard.

Hines trying to control but Cesar is working from the bottom.
Cesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hines decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cesar, up you get!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hines throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cesar was covering up waiting for the punch and Hines finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hines stands up and waves to Cesar to follow him.
Hines lands a right hook to the body.

Hines scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hines tries to stand and escape but Cesar is controlling the position.
Cesar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hines is working away from the top position though.
Cesar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hines haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Cesar is trying to hold Hines in close to prevent damage but Hines has managed to pass into half guard.
Marcos Cesar has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cesar manages to get to full guard.

Hines drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hines jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hines tries to free his leg and advance position but Cesar is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Hines scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cesar sneaks back into half guard.
Cesar is looking to improve his position.
Cesar is trying to maintain the position but Hines is very close to passing his half guard.
Hines throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cesar to regain full guard.

Cesar is working an open guard so Hines takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cesar shoots in for a double leg but Hines sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cesar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hines moves into range and clinches up with Cesar.

Cesar can't get the takedown.
Hines prevents the takedown attempt.
Colby Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Cesar.
Hines gets through Cesar's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Hines breaks from the clinch.

Cesar gets tackled into the cage by Hines. Hines maintains the clinch.

Hines decides to pull guard.
Hines is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cesar is controlling him.

Cesar stands up from Hines's guard - Cesar perhaps looking for a knockout.

Hines shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hines was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cesar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cesar tries to roll over but Hines keeps him under control.
Cesar won't allow Hines to pass to mount.
Cesar is refusing to be controlled, as Hines sits in half guard.
Hines tries to stand and escape but Cesar is controlling the position.

Hines drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Cesar looking for a guillotine here but Hines defends easily.
Hines has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cesar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cesar is keen to just control but Hines is a slippery customer.

Still in half guard, Cesar seems content to control.
Hines might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Colby Hines.
I think Hines has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
