Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raj Chetty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Groundswell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Nick Groundswell enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raj Chetty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Groundswell!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Groundswell. No joy for Chetty on that attempt.
Groundswell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Raj Chetty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chetty keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Chetty throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Groundswell sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Groundswell gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Groundswell jumps guard.
Chetty passes Groundswell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Groundswell is doing well to control the position and prevent Chetty from advancing to side control.
Chetty prevents Groundswell from improving his position.
Groundswell is trying to maintain the position but Chetty is very close to passing his half guard.
Groundswell tries to get to full guard but Chetty has control of the leg.
Groundswell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chetty is working away from the top position though.

Groundswell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Chetty's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Chetty's back!
Chetty is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Groundswell.
You can see the frustration on Chetty's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Despite being in the dominant position, Nick Groundswell just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Chetty has his foot on Groundswell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Groundswell works his way back into a safe position though.

Chetty looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Groundswell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chetty does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Chetty throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Groundswell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chetty is not content to let Groundswell control the position.

Chetty is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Groundswell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Groundswell blocks the strikes from Chetty.
Chetty tries to get to full guard but Groundswell has control of the leg.
Groundswell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chetty keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Nick Groundswell will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Chetty's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Groundswell shoots for a takedown but Chetty saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Chetty scores with a sloppy right hand. Groundswell should have avoided that one.
Groundswell walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Chetty scores with a shot to the body.
Chetty getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Groundswell takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Groundswell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chetty's waist but Chetty gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Groundswell off to one side.
Chetty lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Chetty fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Chetty throws out a powerful jab.
Groundswell is still on wobbly legs! Can Chetty finish him?
Chetty dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chetty cracks Groundswell with a right hand to the side of the head.
Groundswell has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Groundswell there as he acknowledges the shot.
A left lands for Chetty.
Chetty lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A left and a right from Chetty both land. Nice combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Groundswell takes one to the chin there.
Some bone on bone action there as Groundswell checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Groundswell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chetty paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nice shot lands for Chetty.

Chetty lands with a hook. Groundswell tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Groundswell stuffs the takedown attempt from Chetty. Chetty gets slowly back to his feet.

Groundswell closes the distance and clinches.
Chetty wants to get back to striking at distance but Groundswell won't allow it.
Chetty has had enough of the clinch but Groundswell keeps him there for the moment.
Groundswell seems to have recovered his senses.
Groundswell keeps control of Chetty as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Groundswell has Chetty pressed against the cage.
Chetty wants to break free but Groundswell has control.
Chetty has had enough of the clinch but Groundswell keeps him there for the moment.

Groundswell gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chetty regains guard.
Groundswell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chetty. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chetty is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Groundswell rolls with it to try and escape but Chetty cranks on the arm and Groundswell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
