Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Fixing a Broken Heart-A1 as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to clinch up but Bates circles away and keeps his distance.

Jones forces Bates back against the cage and clinches.
Jones wants a takedown but no success here.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bates.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Bates swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bates swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones connects with a high kick.

It looks like Dave Bates has been cut.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bates shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bates darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Bates into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bates on the side of the head.
Jones looks to land a combination but Bates avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Bates. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bates closes the distance looking to clinch
and Jones counters with a flying knee that drops Bates! Jones dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Jones!
Jon Jones bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
