Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Death (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Death!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Death misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Abbott goes for a double leg but Death avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Death continues to drive forward.
Death goes for a takedown in the clinch but Abbott prevents it.
Death tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Abbott just stands there and leans against the cage.
Death is looking to control Abbott's arms but Abbott gets an underhook and turns him. Now Death has his back to the cage.
Abbott wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Death wants a takedown but no success here.
Death jumps guard but Abbott stands there with Death around his waist. Death gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Death manages to break the clinch.
Death darts in looking for a takedown but Abbott gets double underhooks and turns Death into the cage.
Death prevents a takedown attempt there.

Abbott gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Death tries to roll over but Abbott keeps him under control.
Abbott wants to stand up but Death has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Abbott uses his free foot to push down on Death's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Death.
Abbott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abbott landing strikes from the mount and Death is in trouble!
Abbott avoids the attempt from Death to control.
Abbott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Abbott looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Death wants to hold on but Abbott pushes him away.
Death is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Death looks winded!

Abbott looking to secure an arm triangle but Death defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Death wants to get back to his feet.
Death wants to control but Abbott is having none of it.
Abbott controlling from mount.
Death taking shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abbott lands a couple of good shots and Death has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Abbott is landing with strikes. Death can't take much more of this.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Abbott. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Abbott is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abbott keeps control of the position as Death tries to break free.
Death is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Death is trapped and Abbott is scoring with shots to the head and body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Abbott dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Abbott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Death. Abbott does a little dance to reset his feet.
Death tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abbott paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Abbott scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Death trying to control from the bottom.
Abbott looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Death with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Abbott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Death has a hand on Abbott's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Abbott takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Abbott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Death is looking to escape.
Death is breathing heavily.
Abbott controlling from the full mount.

Abbott landing strikes from the mount and Death is in trouble!
Abbott lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Abbott is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Death to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Death shrugs it off.
Abbott avoids the attempt from Death to control.

Abbott with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Abbott is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Abbott extends the arm and Death is forced to tap!
