Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Martini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Benavidez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Martini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Benavidez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martini tries to clinch but Benavidez is having none of it.

Benavidez looks to land a left hand but Martini moved out of range nicely.
Benavidez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Martini counters with a shoot takedown. Benavidez fights it but they end up in guard.

Benavidez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martini gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Benavidez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Martini is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Benavidez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Martini's back instead.

Martini manages to reverse the position and now he's in Benavidez's guard. Nice work there by Martini.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martini is having to fend off submission attempts from Benavidez, who is looking to sink in the choke. Benavidez doesn't have the hooks in though and Martini manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Benavidez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martini can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Martini stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benavidez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Martini seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Oh but Martini is tightening it up a little... Benavidez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Benavidez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Benavidez taps out! nice BJJ there by Martini!
