PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armand Agasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Random Task (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Random Task will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Armand Agasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Random Task!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Agasi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Agasi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sloppy strikes there by Agasi.
Agasi lands a decent elbow from side control.
Agasi tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Task regains half guard, as Agasi was trying to land strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Agasi works his foot free and advances to mount.
Agasi misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Task in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Agasi goes for an armbar but Task turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Task.

Agasi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Task stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Task has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Agasi looks to score with a jab to the body but Task is just out of range.
Task misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Agasi throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Task counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Task.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Agasi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Agasi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Agasi unloads with some shots from mount but Task bucks and avoids them well.
Agasi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Agasi wants to control the pace but Task is squirming around nicely.
Task can't escape the position.

Agasi throws some wild stikes that Task manages to avoid easily.

The referee warns Task that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Task manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Task, under a barage of strikes from Agasi.

Task is defending against the submission attempts here by Agasi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Agasi shoots for a double leg takedown but Task sprawls well. He's pushed Agasi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Agasi lands with a shot to the body.
Task throws the kick towards the body but Agasi avoids it.
Task throws a leg kick but Agasi moved away.
Agasi moves forwards but Task connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Task throws a series of punches but Agasi moves out of range.
Good leg kick by Task there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Agasi seems to be working for a kimura but Task defends the submission attempt.

Agasi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Task is refusing to be controlled, as Agasi sits in half guard.
Agasi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Task tries to roll over but Agasi keeps him under control.
Agasi wants to control but Task is keeping him busy.

Agasi is working for a kimura but Task is defending it quite comfortably.
Agasi is just content to waste time from the top position. Task takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Task preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Agasi is looking to work some ground and pound but Task has wrist control.
Agasi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Task works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Agasi stays in close to Task's body and controls the position.
Agasi trying to control but Task is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Agasi wants to pass the guard but Task is keeping the position.
Task keeping moving, preventing Agasi from controlling successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Agasi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Agasi is looking for a kimura but Task is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Agasi to get the leverage.
We've been hearing good reports from Agasi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Agasi misses with a head shot. Task uses the momentum to regain guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Agasi.

Agasi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Task's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Task wants to get back to his feet but Agasi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Agasi controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Armand Agasi just wasn't active enough.
Agasi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Task decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Agasi's guard.
Agasi has his hands on Task's head, controlling the position.
Task would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Task buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Agasi throws the left hand but Task avoids the punch easily.
Task throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Task tries to clinch but Agasi moves away

and Agasi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Agasi wants to control from the top but Task keeps moving.
Agasi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Random Task has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Armand Agasi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Agasi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
