Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cole Mcdonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Richards!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcdonald closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Richards did well to prevent Mcdonald getting side control.

Richards is trying to keep Mcdonald in close.
Mcdonald trying to control but Richards is working from the bottom.
Richards is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Richards lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mcdonald!

Mcdonald tries to lock up and control but Richards gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Richards is persistently looking for the submission but Mcdonald is defending it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mcdonald is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Mcdonald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Richards is looking to control Mcdonald but Mcdonald is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Richards looking to break Mcdonald's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mcdonald remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Richards will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Richards has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mcdonald has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Mcdonald tries to land a front kick but Richards steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Mcdonald shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Richards is trying to defend but Mcdonald finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Richards was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Mcdonald will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mcdonald doesn't manage to clinch there - Richards circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Richards manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Richards is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mcdonald is just riding it out for now. Richards eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Richards is taking a breather. Mcdonald says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Richards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mcdonald doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Richards.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Richards wants to pass the guard but Mcdonald is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Chris Richards will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Mcdonald closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Richards is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Richards wants to control but Mcdonald is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Richards is looking to improve his position.
Mcdonald not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mcdonald is just content to waste time from the top position. Richards takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Mcdonald got a little sloppy there for a moment and Richards has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mcdonald has managed to get both his arms back between Richards's legs - danger averted.
