The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Alvarez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lawler circles away quickly and effectively.
Alvarez throws a nice looking combination but Lawler bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lawler dives in and grabs Alvarez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alvarez pushes down on Lawler's head and hops out.

Lawler has closed the distance and engaged Alvarez in a clinch.
Lawler is pushing Alvarez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lawler does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
No joy there for Alvarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Lawler counters with a two punch combo.
Alvarez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Horrible takedown by Lawler or perhaps it was just good defense by Alvarez which made him look bad.

Alvarez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Lawler sprawling to the canvas! Lawler rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Alvarez finish him?!
