The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura but Alford is defending well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Walker wants to work for an arm triangle but Alford is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Walker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alford has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walker is working away from the top position though.

Walker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alford is just riding it out for now. Walker eventually gives up the hold.

Walker has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Alford defend it? Walker steps over the head and cranks it - Alford is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Walker!
