Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Rhodes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johan Boshoff!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes dives in for a single leg takedown but Boshoff sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Rhodes's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Rhodes tries to pull guard but Boshoff won't allow it.
Boshoff goes for a takedown attempt but Rhodes pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Boshoff feints and as Rhodes raises his hands in defense, Boshoff changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rhodes looking for subs off his back but Boshoff has passed one foot through into half guard.

Rhodes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boshoff pulls his head out easily.
Boshoff not doing much here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boshoff is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Boshoff wants to work for an arm triangle but Rhodes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Boshoff passes to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boshoff controlling his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Boshoff.
Boshoff controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Boshoff has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rhodes tries to hold on but Boshoff pushes him away.
Boshoff controlling the position easily from mount.
Rhodes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boshoff on the ground.
A nice elbow there by Boshoff.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rhodes is trying to reverse the position but instead Boshoff has taken his back - oops!
Boshoff controlling well, preventing Rhodes from escaping the position.
Boshoff is working the ground and pound. Can Rhodes escape?
Rhodes wants to get back to his feet.
Rhodes is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Boshoff not allowing Rhodes to control his hands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Boshoff working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Rhodes is doing well to defend. Boshoff seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Rhodes is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Johan Boshoff!
